Mandy Moore showed up at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week wearing a bright yellow coat that popped on an overcast gray day. She entered Bryant Park on 41st Street near the New York Public Library.
Daniel Day Lewis showed up at the premiere of “There Will Be Blood” wearing this crazy plaid suit. The red carpet press area was packed with photographers, so I wandered down to the very end of the red carpet and got the stars to pose for me just before they entered the theater.
En route to grabbing a couple tacos at La Esquina, I noticed a line of black SUV’s and film production trucks parked outside a nondescript building on Lafayette, just south of Houston. The guy selling Christmas trees on the island told me they were shooting a commercial. When I asked him if there were any stars inside he said: “You’re not one of those paparazzi, are you?” I said no. He said: “If you camped outside my house for three days I’d fucking punch you out.” I learned from one of the grips it was a Queen Latifah commercial for Jenny Craig. My photos of her walking from the building to her trailer broke the story that she was the new spokesperson for Jenny Craig, the weight loss company.
Queen Latifah Signs On to Endorse Jenny Craig
Mischa Barton, who starred on The O.C., put in an appearance at The Box located at 189 Chrystie Street to endorse the spring collection of Keds. She took off her coat on a cold night and pulled up her dress before facing the press photographers. That candid moment caught her in a look that transformed her stardom into a curiosity of visual proportions.
Someone scrawled “Jews for Bush” on a payphone on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Heeb Magazine ran this image to illustrate the article below in their Photo Issue.

In the days following the 9/11 attacks, conspiracy theories claimed that Jews had masterminded the attacks. Europe saw an increase in violence against Jews and Jewish targets, and classical antisemitic themes burgeoned in the Middle East media. Conservative voices in the U.S. responded quickly, publishing articles and books proclaiming that Jew-hatred’s new face in America was the face of the Left. Progressive criticism of Ariel Sharon’s far-right government in Israel ran this argument, but was merely a thin veneer masking an underlying hostility towards the Jewish people; and the clearly implied solution was to lift up our eyes to the conservatives, whence cometh our help.

Lynette Webb Snippets
Lynette Webb is a researcher, analyst and strategist who is responsible for tracking the evolution in the communications landscape, with particular emphasis on the rise of digital technologies and the implications for advertisers. She is a Senior Strategic Insights Manager at Google.
She also created Interesting Snippets, a mashup of images and quoted text to make a statement about the zeitgeist of present society. She published these images on Flickr before being asked to include them in a multimedia art show in Venice, Italy. She then assembled the images into book form and had it published by The Battery Hen Welfare Trust.
She included the above image of an older woman taking a nap on the plaza which I shot at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. The quote from Rupert Murdoch was taken from a speech he gave before the American Society of Newspaper Editors on April 13, 2005.
