Thanks, Christopher. Professor Kingwell has actually decided to use an alternate image, though this despite yours being the stronger photograph. I really appreciate all your help, though, and will let you know if plans change again.
David.
Hello Christopher,
I’m a research assistant writing on behalf of Mark Kingwell, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Toronto (Canada) and author of several publications. (His recent *Nearest Thing to Heaven* was listed as one of the Globe and Mail’s top 100 books of 2006).
I’ve been hired by Dr. Kingwell to source images for his forthcoming book, *Concrete Reveries* (2008), on the phenomenology of city. Roughly, it’s about how people occupy cities. As the book will be published with an image every few pages or so, I am sourcing mostly public-domain images of top-quality to accompany the text.
“In Concrete Reveries, acclaimed philosopher and cultural critic Mark Kingwell offers a thoughtful answer to Socrates’ injunction about the life worth living, using the urban experience to illustrate the dynamic between concreteness and abstraction that operates within us.Witty and authoritative, the book is an exhilarating journey through unexpected terrain.”
I’m writing you because we’d like to include your photo of Philip Jonson’s Glass House. I can see that you have released the image under the creative commons license, which is great, but I will need a higher resolution version in order to use as our book designer has requested. If you are interested in helping with this project and getting your photograph in print, please post at the highest resolution possible and let me know so I can download.
FYI: projected date of publication by Penguin Group (Canada) is March 2008 (hardcover) and 2009 (paperback). Estimated price of product is $34. Estimated print run for North America is 20,000 hardcover, and 25,000 paperback.
Thanks kindly,
David Owen Morgan
